10 Great Products That You Didn't Know Were Vegan

Disclaimer: I am not vegan.
Recently, I stumbled across a tumblr. post that talked about how Oreos are accidentally/unintentionally vegan (not new information but I re-discovered this the other day), and it got me thinking about other vegan products that you probably didn't know about, specifically makeup products.

While I'm not a vegan, and will probably never be one, vegan cosmetics is a great concept to get behind. Unlike in food, where veganism means sacrificing milk, eggs, meat and many other coveted kitchen items, being a 'cosmetic vegan' is much easier. I know there will be vegans out there who think 'cosmetic veganism' is a cop-out, but if it's preventing animal cruelty and slaughter (to an extent), then what's the issue?

Animal cruelty is a major issue in the cosmetics industry and seemed like a battle that ethics was never going to win, until recently. In recent years makeup lovers have become much more ethical, and have begun to shift away from giant cosmetic conglomerates like Estee Lauder and L'Oreal, who are some of the worst cruelty offenders in the business, and have started to opt for brands with higher moral standards. As consumers views on issues like animal cruelty have started to change, many brands have followed suit, with major labels like Too Faced, Anastasia Beverly Hills and NARS becoming cruelty-free and vowing never to test on animals (Google cosmetics and animal testing if you want to read more about this). While cruelty-free cosmetics are awesome, you can become a completely ethical makeup lover by choosing only (or at least mostly) vegan cosmetics.

And the best part about 'cosmetic veganism' is how many amazing brands are already completely vegan, or at least offer vegan products! Check out some of my personal favourites below, you'd be surprised how many major brands offer vegan products.
